We begin today, October 8, with the first in a series of THROWBACK THURSDAY publications, looking back with fondness over the past 40 YEARS of Crossroads of Western Iowa, and how Crossroads has grown to what we are today, from our inspirational beginnings as Monona Services in Onawa, Iowa. Great success and a solemn commitment to our consumers and their families, has led to the Crossroads of Western Iowa we know today . . . empowering individuals to actively seek out opportunities for an enhanced quality of life!

CELEBRATING 40 YEARS OF SUCCESS!

An up-close and personal perspective from the CEO of Crossroads of Western Iowa, Brent Dillinger

What do you enjoy most about being the CEO at Crossroads of Western Iowa?

I’ve always liked serving and coaching people I care about to be their best. Being involved in my community to help make it a better place for family, friends and neighbors is also a passion of mine. My role as a leader affords me the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives and to see them grow and thrive through the programs and services offered at Crossroads. I really see this work as a calling, and I am blessed to be given the opportunity to serve.

What is your overall goal for the Clients involved with Crossroads?

To be given the opportunity to grow as a person and develop as an active member in their community. I want the people we serve to have every chance at achieving their personal goals as anyone else has been given. Also, to know that our Clients have the supports and dedication of CWI staff to help them get there. We are here to empower people and to create opportunities.

What has kept you inspired over the years at Crossroads of Western Iowa?

We have been fortunate to garner the trust and belief in what we do by so many in our region. Our referrals have been strong, which has led to amazing growth of services over the past several years. Our community partners are stepping up and making things happen in the way of housing, employment and volunteer sites for our Clients, along with grants and donations to advance our mission. We have dedicated, hardworking staff and Board leadership with hearts full of compassion – great human beings to surround yourself with.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy any activities that take me outdoors. Recently I have gained an interest in golf and hunting. On occasion, I hunt for my golf ball.
